p.s. this (matthew's bday) begins annibirthday week!
our anniversary is the 9th and my bday is the 12th
and it all fits happily into one perfect little week...

first 2010 post...

so...do you say two thousand ten...
or twenty ten?

anywho...
today is january 4th, 2010
and that means that our sweet little pug, Olive,
turns 3 today...

Happy Birthday Olive!!!



we started off the year with loads of snow...yay!
in a couple of days we managed to get somewhere
between 15 & 18 inches...
it was an amazing marshmallow world.
and there was an awesome snowman built on our deck...



then it warmed up a little bit...
and throughout the afternoon and evening,
the snowman started to lean...
and lean farther...
then, he lost an eye...
then, his little carrot nose...


(taken late last night, hence funky colors)

and at some point overnight...
mr. snowman met his inevitable death.



and whilst last year there was hysterical crying
by munki, over the loss of her snowman...
this morning, she says, all happily...

"that's okay...i'll have lots of chances to build a lot
of snowmen this year..."

ah yes, what a difference a year makes.


have a wonderful monday, i think most vacations are over...
and most people are back to work...so have a great day
and make the most of whatever it is that you are doing...
and smile...always smile.

well, unless you consider a jackalope a monster.

and he's now hanging on our living room wall.
the plaque he's on has a little seat/shelf for him to sit on
and he has a ring sewn to the back of his head,
which attaches to a hook on the plaque
so he can be taken out for adventures...
because what kind of life is it for a jackalope
to just hang on a wall all day?
though he does like his christmas bulb, his cosmo,
his holly, and his fancy shmancy crocheted scarf.

gomez came to be, due in part to me mentioning
to my dear friends jovi and tammy while they were here
visiting, that i wanted a jackalope to hang on my wall.
but i didn't want a real taxidermy bunny with antlers,
i just wanted a plush bunny with antlers.
we had just seen a "real" jackalope head on the wall in a store...
and in this same store...tammy and jovi found this bunny
AND antlers...it was simply meant to be.
they were only here for a short visit...
so, the job of "creating" the jackalope fell to matt and i.
my idea was to buy a baseball...rip open the back of the
bunny's head so we had something solid
to screw the antlers into...tahdah...it worked.
matt put some armature type wire in his arms so we could
pose them (and he could hold his alcoholic beverage)
and now we just have fun coming up with things for him
to wear and hold and such...and matt has even come up
with his next outfit...
oh just you wait...

anyway...
so...welcome, gomez elliot thistledown, to the world...

worth the watch...

i adore our christmas tree this year....

but...
i really have this thing for white christmas trees...
and matt REALLY does not...
someday, i think (hopehopehope) i may have to get one
and put it in a separate room...

and because i love my husband dearly,
i would never subject him to it as our main tree...
