well, unless you consider a jackalope a monster.
this is...

and he's now hanging on our living room wall.
the plaque he's on has a little seat/shelf for him to sit on
and he has a ring sewn to the back of his head,
which attaches to a hook on the plaque
so he can be taken out for adventures...
because what kind of life is it for a jackalope
to just hang on a wall all day?
though he does like his christmas bulb, his cosmo,
his holly, and his fancy shmancy crocheted scarf.

gomez came to be, due in part to me mentioning
to my dear friends jovi and tammy while they were here
visiting, that i wanted a jackalope to hang on my wall.
but i didn't want a real taxidermy bunny with antlers,
i just wanted a plush bunny with antlers.
we had just seen a "real" jackalope head on the wall in a store...
and in this same store...tammy and jovi found this bunny
AND antlers...it was simply meant to be.
they were only here for a short visit...
so, the job of "creating" the jackalope fell to matt and i.
my idea was to buy a baseball...rip open the back of the
bunny's head so we had something solid
to screw the antlers into...tahdah...it worked.
matt put some armature type wire in his arms so we could
pose them (and he could hold his alcoholic beverage)
and now we just have fun coming up with things for him
to wear and hold and such...and matt has even come up
with his next outfit...
oh just you wait...

anyway...
so...welcome, gomez elliot thistledown, to the world...

i adore our christmas tree this year....

but...
i really have this thing for white christmas trees...
and matt REALLY does not...
someday, i think (hopehopehope) i may have to get one
and put it in a separate room...

and because i love my husband dearly,

still trying to finish up gifts for people...
and again i will say it is SO good (kind of)
that i have no feeling in my left hand
(though i could do without all the neck and arm pain)
with the amount of times i've stabbed my fingers
in the last couple of weeks. they look horrid,
and i bet they'd hurt if i could feel them.
of course if i could feel them,
i probably wouldn't be stabbing them.
and another annoying left hand numbness thing
is that my left hand typos are horrific.

but...on the good side of things...
we got our tree this past weekend and it's all up
and decorated with SO many ornaments...
(is there such a thing as too many?)
it doesn't help that i made almost 20 new felt ornaments
for this year. and with the colored lights, our tree
just looks like something you might want to eat.

well, yesterday was a snow day for Munki...
the snow was gorgeous...
the snow started piling up...
the wind kicked in...
the temperature rose a bit...
said snow turned to sleet...
temperature rose some more...
said sleet turned to rain...
rain was accompanied by thunder and gnarly lightning...
goodbye gorgeous snow.

hello, ice and nasty looking, not so white anymore stuff...
i have been robbed of my beautiful snow.
it was really piling up too.
one pug was ecstatic...(Lucy)
the other (Olive) stood outside with one little paw up
just shaking and trembling as if being tortured...
ah, winter with the pugs.
they much prefer the blanket right in front of the space heater.

have a great thursday and do something stress free...
everyone gets so stressy this time of year.
be happy, not all in a rush...
treat people with some kindness...
it'll make you feel better, i promise.
smiling is good for you...try starting there.
and be nice to that cashier in the retail store
who may not do everything exactly as fast or as perfectly
as you'd like them to.
you've never seen crazy/rude/mean/malicious/etc etc etc
until you've worked at a retail store during the holidays..
i think everyone should have to do it at least once in their lives.
be kind to your cashiers...
your waitresses/waiters...(they deal with a lot too)
your postal workers...(i don't envy them this time of year)
and all those other people that are helping you out
this holiday season...

smile...say thank you...
and just have some patience and some common courtesy.

quick update...

again, i apologize for the lack of updates...
but between medical appointments...
narcotics & epidural steroid injections in one's spine...
and the hubby making sure i stay off my feet...
not to mention the horrific typos
(& me having to read everything at least 3x to catch them)
i haven't been the best at updates.

today however is my dad's birthday and i wanted to wish
him a happy birthday, even though i'll be seeing him later...

but things have been a little crazy, to say the least.
i have managed to rupture a disc in my neck,
which, for the time being, has all but killed the use of my left arm...
which is definitely needed for making BuNnY MoNsTeRz.
so...there won't be any shop updates in the near future.


i have spoken to most of you that are near and dear...
and those of you that stalk me on twitter or facebook
or one of my other many random social networking sites
at least know a little bit of what is going on.

i am scheduled to see a neurologist in the next week or so, hopefully.
...and we'll go from there.

so, if you could just send some good vibes my way...
i'd appreciate it. i'd really like NOT to have surgery of any kind.
so i am pulling for something wonderful happening that just
heals things up.

i'll try to let you know if anything changes.

well, my morning started off with much happiness.
it started with 4 etsy sales...wahoo!
i was excited enough about that...
then i read the email from the gentleman that bought them.
and i thought i'd share the email...

"I have been home with H1N1 for a week. It has hit my classroom and school, and it has given me some unexpected free time. I was lucky that it did not knock me too far down. I am a teacher and have taken some time to shop around on Etsy to find friends that my fourth graders can do creative writing with. I think your friends are neat because the kids will be able to draw them and maybe even create illustrations of new friends of their own! I am having this shipped to school, and I will be glad to have them at my school home. I really love your creativity and look of quirkiness that makes your work endearing. the last 'secret' project i was working on
was secret because i didn't want the recipient
to see/hear/read/know about it.

munki went to a birthday party on saturday
for her friend aria...
& had previously told me
that she'd like me to make a BuNnY MoNsTeR as her gift.
since the birthday party was
kind of a pink & black girly pirate party...



i opted to stay in the pink & black theme,
and am quite happy i did.




it was a great party...full of fingernail painting...
temporary tattoos (my job) and lots and lots
of happy kids.

~cutting out felt circles for zombie eyes
~cutting gauze strips for mummy bunnyz
~cutting frankenbunny faces out
~cutting felt fangs and rounded teeth
~doing some button sorting...
(i find it amazing that i have hundreds upon hundreds of buttons
and can rarely find exactly what i need)
~working on a little secret project...

and that should be a good start to the week...

my amazing friend, Lorell (whom i rave about quite often)
has made me fall in love with yet another one of her creations...
(well in this case, 10 of them)

the hubby asked me the other day...
"does it bother you,
that the BuNnY MoNsTeRz travel more than you do?"

and i had never really stopped to think about it before.
but then i thought about all the people that write to me
and send me pix of them and/or their BuNnY MoNsTeRz in
far away places...on vacation...going places i'd like to be.
and then i shake my head.
no, it doesn't bother me...
i live vicariously...and besides...all the people buying
BuNnY MoNsTeRz are the ones helping me save up for
vacations to far away places...
so thank you!
keep sending the pictures and the emails!!!

i LOVE them...
and someday...i hope to get them all in a book!

i am trying to get resituated after a bunch of craziness...

finally got around to posting a pic of this guy...
i twittered about him already...so,
i figured i should share here too.
he stands a whopping 1 1/4 inches,
and the smallest details were painted with a needle.
i am still using our rented laptop...
so i am trying to keep y'all updated.

we are fine...
just slightly (not entirely) technologically incapacitated right now.

expect a few less tweets for a bit...
i don't sit at the computer all the time,
and via the web is the only way i can tweet right now.
i usually tweet from my blackberry...and the app
i use (ubertwitter) is still not working after the ddos attack
on twitter yesterday...
i felt so disconnected from my news and everything...
since, seriously, twitter is where i follow the news
of all sorts...and i LOVE conveniently following it
from my bberry...and since i can't right now...well,
it seems i have to check in on this rented laptop.

it's kinda crazy...
a total of 6 of my friends now, have had to buy entirely
new computers within the last 2 weeks...
and now we are to be counted amongst them.
twitter, facebook, livejournal and several other sites
were affected by the ddos attack yesterday...
and just a whole bunch of technological issues all around
seem to be the talk as of late...
hopefully next week we'll be getting a new desktop...
we'll return the rented laptop...and i have high hopes
of santa bringing me the laptop i really want.

but...there you have it...
won't be blogging so much until we get ourselves
technologically sound again...
but i'll keep you updated as well as possible...
even if it is short blog blips via my bberry...

last week i sent off a custom order...

these 3 breast cancer awareness (BCA) BuNnY MoNsTeRz
were purchased by a survivor to gift to other survivors!!!

it makes my heart dance and sing to do orders like that!
and part of the profit will go to a breast cancer awareness charity.
